UFC 225: Yoel Romero misses weight for title fight with Robert Whittaker

Yoel Romero's failure to make weight mean his rematch with Robert Whittaker is no longer for the middlweight title.

Even as the ceremonial weigh-ins got started late on Friday evening, nobody was quite sure of the status of the fight but, after the final face-off, it was confirmed that both Whittaker and Romero would share the Octagon on Saturday night. Unfortunately, Romero did not hold up his end of the bargain on his first attempt.

CM Punk has been making headlines all week thanks to his trial with WWE Dr. Chris Amann, and his big fight against Mike Jackson which is set to take place at UFC 225.

The Cuban fighter was approached by Whittaker yesterday, with the Kiwi born fighter telling his rival not to worry and that their MMA bout will still go ahead at UFC 225.

Initially, Romero came in at 186 pounds. As a result of Romero missing weight, Rockhold could only win the interim title if he won the fight.

"This fight, as far as I'm concerned, I have 25 minutes to try to finish him - and I'm going to use every single second of those minutes to try to achieve that".

He struggled to take Whittaker down in their first fight, however, and the Australian is not expecting much to change.

Jackson was able to pick up the unanimous decision win. But yeah, I just don't see it.

Holly Holm (-210) is favored against UFC debutante Megan Anderson (+180) in what amounts to a women's featherweight title eliminator.
