The new baby is believed to be the heaviest royal baby in recent years, taking over the record from Zara's niece Savannah Phillips, who was 8lb 8oz when born in 2010.

Zara and Mike's first daughter Mia weighed in at 7lb 3oz when she was born in 2014.

Zara Tindall, the Queen's granddaughter, has given birth to a baby girl, Buckingham palace has said.

Buckingham Palace confirmed that the happy parents had welcomed their daughter in a statement which read: "Mrs Michael Tindall was safely delivered of a baby girl on 18th June, at Stroud Maternity Unit".

Meanwhile, Prince George and Princess Charlotte were only a little lighter than their brother Louis, with George weighing 8lb 6oz while Charlotte was 8lb 3oz.

The Queen, as well as Zara's parents, the Princess Royal (Princess Anne) and Captain Mark Phillips and Mike's parents, Mr Philip and Mrs Linda Tindall, have been informed and are delighted with the news.

Zara, who is the Queen's grand-daughter, gave birth at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital close to her family home. Mr. Tindall was present at the birth.

The baby is the seventh great-grandchild of Elizabeth and her husband Prince Philip.

Zara's pregnancy was announced in January after the couple suffered a miscarriage in 2016.

She is also an accomplished equestrian and won a silver medal at the 2012 Olympics.

Heavily pregnant Zara was last seen at the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex a month ago, accompanied by husband Mike Tindall.
