What time does the first game of the 2018 World Cup start?

"Canada, Mexico, and the United States are ready to welcome the world to North America and serve as stewards of the largest FIFA World Cup in history. In addition, it bolsters our future efforts to secure many other soccer events on an ongoing basis".

"Thank you for entrusting us with this privilege", U.S. Soccer Federation President Carlos Cordeiro told the congress.

"We are all united in football, the attractive game transcends borders and cultures".

Morocco have bid five times now and they have been overlooked each time.

The result equalled the best in a World Cup opening game - Brazil beat Mexico 5-0 in Geneva in 1954 - and watching Russian President Vladimir Putin wasted no time in phoning coach Stanislav Cherchesov to congratulate him.

Just to add to the complexity, there was a third option for all voters: neither Morocco or United and we would have had to start a new bidding process.

The 3.6 million attendees remain a World Cup record, despite the fact that only 24 nations competed at the time. This is compared to $6 billion (£4.48) that was projected from the Moroccan bid.

City host the first of the 2018/19 clashes, welcoming United to the Etihad Stadium on 10 November and our visit to Old Trafford takes place on 16 March. 1986 and 1994, whereas Canada hosted the Women's World Cup in 2015.

Houston, along with Dallas, are among the potential host cities apart of the winning bid.

The 2026 tournament will look very different than it due to its expansion. NRG Park has successfully hosted two Super Bowls and two NCAA Men's Final Fours, and it will be a great venue for the World Cup matches.

Wednesday's vote, held in Moscow on the eve of this year's tournament, was about much more than just the 2026 host nation.

From that point on, it is knockout stages.
