Alisson completes Liverpool move in world-record deal

Alisson completes Liverpool move in world-record deal

The deal for Becker would be the most ever paid for a goalkeeper.

"In terms of my life and my career, it's a huge step for me being part of this club and this family", the 25-year-old Alisson said.

"I'm very very happy to be here with you guys and I can't wait to be with you at Anfield".

The Brazilian will reportedly earn £5.3m a year - another sign of Klopp and FSG's willingness to splash the cash in order to get their preferred targets.

The same report says that Liverpool FC opted to ramp up their interest in signing Alisson in recent days after it became apparent that Chelsea FC could be set to make a move for the goalkeeper.

The 25-year-old shared a dressing room with Salah at the Stadio Olimpico during the 2016-17 campaign before the Egypt worldwide departed for Liverpool, where he was a revelation last season.

After playing second fiddle to Simon Mignolet for the best part of 18 months, he finally unseated the Belgian as Liverpool's first choice goalkeeper early in 2018. Salah, who had an impressive debut season at Anfield, will now be reunited with his former teammate, after he completed his move to the Reds.

Liverpool's goalkeeping splurge comes almost two months after a nightmare performance from German keeper Loris Karius in the Champions League final - a match in which they lost 3-1.

"[The owners] were quite excited, so we did it", the Reds boss told his club's official website.

"I think it's something we have to do".

Klopp, however, warned it may take time for Alisson to adjust to his new surroundings, despite being "the full package". "Economic factors are important for the club too, not just sporting factors".

"That game [at Anfield] definitely did have an influence but I also watched other games".

However, Klopp dismissed concerns over Alisson's price, citing the realities of the market.
