Donald Trump Calls the European Union a 'Foe' of the U.S.

Donald Trump Calls the European Union a 'Foe' of the U.S.

Officials in Russian Federation say they are looking forward to the meeting. "Other people have said it didn't work out, but I'm different than other people". "I hadn't thought of that". "Certainly, I'll be asking about it".

"The stories you heard about the 12 Russians yesterday took place during the Obama Administration, not the Trump Administration", Trump tweeted.

Trump said he was approaching the Putin meeting "with low expectations..."

But new indictments from an investigation into alleged Russian interference in U.S. politics have dropped with embarrassing timing, focusing attention again on whether the Trump campaign may have benefited from Putin's covert help to win the White House.

"It's pretty silly for the president to demand something that he can't get legally".

In the interview, Trump also blamed the Democratic National Committee for "allowing themselves to be hacked" by Russians trying to help Trump win the 2016 election.

"They had bad defences and they were able to be hacked". American intelligence agencies rarely tip their hand this way by disclosing so much in an indictment; clearly they did so here to send messages.

"It is the hardest thing about my entire time in government to defend", a former senior Obama administration official involved in White House deliberations on Russian Federation told the Washington Post in 2017.

America has lost our trust.

The two presidents have shared personal bonhomie in the past, but beyond the alleged hacking of the U.S. election, their countries are deeply divided on a host of other issues including Syria and Ukraine.

He now heads to Helsinki for talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. "I think it's ridiculous", he told CBS. Trump responded that he "looks" at everybody and loves many European countries - noting that he has family ties to Scotland and Germany. What could go wrong?

He said he "believed in meetings" but was unsure what the outcome of the Helsinki meeting would be. I also think it's a very bad thing for Germany.

"America and the European Union are best friends".

Almost 300 billboards - which preview some of both presidents' most "turbulent relations" with the media from 2000 to 2018 - are posted along the routes from the airport to the site of the summit, according to a press release about the campaign from Helsingin Sandomat.

Meanwhile, in Helsinki, more than 2,000 people protested on Sunday as the city prepares to host the summit.

Although President Donald Trump has met with Russia's Vladimir Putin twice before, he is eager to recreate in Finland the heady experience that he had last month with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Singapore: a summit that became a mass media event complete with powerful presidential images.

Participants seen at the crowd at #HelsinkiCalling at the march in Helsinkil on Sunday. The declaration signed by the 29 North Atlantic Treaty Organisation leaders, he said, "confirms the goal of 2 percent by 2024". There was no figure immediately available from organisers.

The timing of the latest charges sparked outrage among Republicans in Congress, who had been promoting claims that anti-Trump bias by Federal Bureau of Investigation agents improperly influenced Mueller's probe into the alleged Russian hacking and contacts between Russians and the Trump campaign ahead of the election.
