He said Boeing has deep relationships with China and is engaged in a "very good dialogue" with local customers.

"It's on all of our radars everyday", Muilenburg said.

"In short, we'll see more of what we've seen for years: aviation remaining a strangely protected and happy corner of a turbulent world".

While meeting a resulting increase in demand for related logistics services, the company said it would nonetheless lower its Carbon dioxide emissions by 18 percent with the new and more efficient Boeing 777F planes.

The bullish outlook was underscored ahead of the show by forecasters Flightglobal Ascend.

For Seattle-based Boeing, day one included an order from Qatar Airways for five Boeing 777 Freighters worth around $1.7bn at list prices.

After a lull, Boeing will be looking for a boost to its largest twinjet, the future 777X.

Airbus is in talks for deals with multiple Asian airlines. AirAsia would become the biggest customer for the marquee jet. The deal includes commitments on another 55 of the 737s.

Boeing takes round one over rival Airbus.

Boeing then quickly announced a second deal.

On the civilian side, the air show is expected to confirm demand for narrowbody jets from airlines such as Mexico's VivaAerobus, which is shopping for some 40 Airbuses, and lessors like Goshawk, which ordered 20 A320neo jets on Monday but is also expected to be interested in 737 MAX.

While global trade tensions are escalating, the industry is counting on e-commerce continuing to soar, with more people buying products online for quick delivery.

Brazilian GOL Airlines converted 30 current 737 MAX orders to the larger 737 MAX 10 launched a year ago and placed a new order for 15 more MAX 8 airplanes, growing GOL's total MAX orders to 135. "As an especially fuel-efficient and reliable cargo plane with an impressive range, the long-haul aircraft will help us achieve our environmental goals and service more markets with direct flights", a statement by DHL Express read.

"We have not changed our approach to business because of this", Ashour said.

Farnborough will also be an opportunity for aerospace firms to plot next moves on civil and defence for decades to come.

May also announced a new £2.0 billion programme with Italy's Leonardo to design a new generation fighter jet, following speculation that Brexit could disrupt cooperation in this field.

While Trump has said trade wars are "good and easy to win", aviation experts say American companies like Chicago-based Boeing will take the first hit because most of USA aerospace production goes to foreign buyers.

As the largest twin-engine cargo airplane in the world, the Boeing 777 Freighter is capable of flying 4,900 nautical miles (9,070 kilometers) with a cargo load of 102 tons.
