Josh Hart becomes second consecutive Lakers player to win Summer League MVP

Josh Hart #5 of the Los Angeles Lakers goes to the basket against the Philadelphia 76ers during the 2018 Las Vegas Summer League on July 7, 2018 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. With only 4:45 left in the fourth quarter, Summer League MVP Hart was ejected from the game for scrutinizing the officials.

The 6-foot-8 Mykhailiuk - he scored 10 points on 3-of-10 shooting (2 of 7 from three) with three rebounds and two assists in the title game - averaged 16.6 points per game on 48.3 percent shooting for the 6-1 Lakers. Archie Goodwin holds the record for scoring the most points in Summer League history.

The No. 2 seeded Trail Blazers entered this summer with an experienced roster.

Hart is making a strong case for Summer League MVP and seems to be the clubhouse favorite right now. Jeff Ayres was the only other Laker in double figures, as he tallied 11 points, one assist and one steal. Caleb Swanigan (pick No. 26 in 2017) and Zach Collins (pick No. 10 in 2017) have dominated the middle, while third-year guard Wade Baldwin (pick No. 17 in 2016) has been the floor general controlling the action. This season, all 30 teams took part in one city with a half dozen former FSU basketball players joining the party.

In the team's performance against the Detroit Pistons, James sat courtside and was visibly enthused by Hart's play, even chatting with the second-year guard on the sideline. To quote the man himself, "Hopefully guys see that and say, oh man, J-Hart is really working".

The Los Angeles Lakers put on a good show for LeBron James. Plus, with both Rondo and likely starter Lonzo Ball playing more as distributors, there could be a lane for Hart to get some lead guard minutes as a shooter who can play off James' creation abilities.

"I think I can knock down shots", said Hart, who shot 39.6 percent from behind the arc during his rookie season.

With Tuesday's win, the Blazers joined the 2013 Golden State Warriors and 2016 Chicago Bulls as the only teams to finish Las Vegas Summer League play undefeated.
