But Sky in Italy understands negotiations between Napoli and Chelsea over Maurizio Sarri's appointment as Conte's potential replacement are in deadlock.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte returns to the club to take charge of pre-season training amid ongoing speculation over his future at Stamford Bridge.

Moses will, however, hope to be part of the squad when Chelsea kick-start their pre-season with a friendly against Perth Glory on July 23 before entering the International Champions Cup at the end of the month.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are struggling to agree a compensation package with current manager Antonio Conte - who is said to have been absent from training at Cobham this week.

While Moses was absent, Alvaro Morata, Ross Barkley, Pedro, Marcos Alonso and Danny Drinkwater were all present for the training session.

An agreement in principle is in place to bring Sarri to Stamford Bridge, but the Blues still need to work with Napoli to secure his release from his contract.

The Blues players not involved in the World Cup reported to the club's training base on Saturday and Sunday for fitness tests overseen by one of the club's sports scientists, but sources told ESPN FC that Conte meant to begin working with those present on Monday unless he was sacked before then.

As late as Sunday evening, the Chelsea players did not know who was poised to take their training, while the confusion has led to knock-on effects for many in the transfer window.
