Ritz recall: Certain snacks recalled due to salmonella concerns

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency issued two recalls Friday on Christie brand Ritz Bits Sandwiches in both cheese and pizza flavours, as well as No Name brand chicken nuggets.

Mondelēz Global LLC announced on Saturday that some of the crackers contain whey powder as an ingredient, which was recalled by its supplier over salmonella concerns.

There have been no complaints of illness reported to Mondelēz Global to date in connection with these products.

Mars Food Canada also stated that there have been no reports of illnesses related to the recalled products. "Young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems may contract serious and sometimes deadly infections", the agency warns.

Recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the store where they were purchased.

"Please note that this is an isolated incident and that no other Uncle Ben's products have been affected or are included in the withdrawal and are safe to consume", the company said in a new release. Symptoms of an Salmonella infection include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. Consumers can contact the company at 1-844-366-1171 to get more information about the recall.
