Alisson underwent a medical and penned a long-term contract on Merseyside on Thursday in a £67m world-record deal for a goalkeeper.

The deal could rise to as much as €72.5m (£65m), with a further £10m in add-ons, which sources told ESPN FC are dependent on Liverpool's qualification for the Champions League and wins in various competitions in the future.

Jurgen Klopp described the Brazil worldwide as "one of the world's best" despite seeing his side put seven goals past him over the two legs of last season's Champions League semi-final. "He's a great guy, was a strong part of the locker room dynamic and we're sorry to see him go, but life is like that".

And, during his first interview as a Liverpool player, the Brazil goalkeeper revealed that Salah, a man he can not wait to team up with again, had been in touch shortly before he visited Melwood for the first time.

Where do you think Alisson will be next season?

Liverpool were the only club to score against him in the Champions League at the Stadio Olimpico last season, striking twice in a 4-2 semifinal defeat but progressing to the final. "As the negotiations were at an advanced stage, I replied to him straight away saying 'Calm down, I'm on my way!'"

The Brazil global will replace Loris Karius as Klopp's No 1. "We've only sold two players and we've signed 10, and we're going to continue looking for players to make us an even bigger club".

"At one point in the last few weeks it came up, the opportunity to sign one of the world's best goalkeepers", he said.

The manager is said to be "delighted" with the club's summer signings, and "Klopp is also encouraged by the fact that the Reds have avoided a summer of uncertainty over any of their major stars".
