Trump trolled with 'traitor' tweet by after Putin summit

Gov. Scott Walker took a different approach when FOX6 News asked whether he agreed with President Trump, who said Monday during a joint news conference with Putin that "I don't see any reason why" Russian Federation would have interfered.

On Monday, Trump met with Putin for two hours and then, during a 46-minute joint press conference, slammed Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 US presidential election and declined to criticize Putin for election interference. It's been over a year since USA intelligence agencies proved that there was Russian interference in the election and that Russian operatives hacked and leaked emails from the Democratic party in 2016.

President Donald Trump said Monday he sees no reason why Russian Federation would have interfered in the 2016 election.

Putin has long insisted that the Kremlin had nothing to do with the hacking, denials that Trump said the Russian leader repeated during their private meeting Monday. "I stand with our men and women in the USA intelligence community, and am highly disturbed by President Trump's statements supporting Putin's baseless, false claims of innocence". "I will say this, I don't see any reason why it would be", Trump said.

"We would expect that the Americans would reciprocate and they would question officials, including the officers of law enforcement and intelligence service of the United States, whom we believe are-who have something to do with illegal actions on the territory of Russia", Putin said, citing specifically allegations about Bill Browder, a Putin critic who led a campaign to impose sanctions on Russian individuals. "President Trump missed opportunity to hold Putin publicly accountable". Trump's statements were a stunning development, given that the top intelligence agencies in the United States including the FBI, CIA, and National Security Agency have all said they believe Russian Federation meddled in the election.

For two years, Trump has faced claims that he was beholden to Russian Federation and in some intangible way even controlled by it. Monday's press conference did nothing to banish this impression. I think that's an incredible offer. Ok? I think it's kept us apart.

Trump said he'd give it to his 12-year-old son Barron, a football fan.

Spokespeople for the Justice Department and Mueller declined to comment on Trump's comments or on Putin's purported offers for assistance.

"Our relationship with Russian Federation has NEVER been worse thanks to many years of US foolishness and stupidity and now, the Rigged Witch Hunt!" he said on Twitter. "I really believe that", Trump said, vowing the summit was "only the beginning". Yesterday Trump again tweeted that the press is "the enemy of the people".

Putin said that he would look into the matter and promised nothing.

"I was an intelligence officer myself and know how these dossiers are put together", said Putin.

Dan Coats, Trump's director of national intelligence, promptly made clear he did not share the president's view.

Trump did not communicate the US opposition to Russia's annexation of Crimea, leaving it to Putin to note, when asked, the USA position.

Senate Democratic Leader Charles Schumer said Mr Trump's approach in Helsinki was unprecedented for a leader of the United States. "We must make clear that the United States will not tolerate hostile Russian activities against us or our allies".

"This is a sad day for America, and for all Western democracies that Putin continues to target", she said. Instead, it sent around word of Trump's interview remarks after Sen. "We heard none of it in the press conference".
