Dead fetus found on commercial plane landed in NY from Charlotte

- A cleaning crew discovered a dead fetus on a plane in a hangar at LaGuardia Airport Tuesday, sources confirm to FOX 46 Charlotte.

Flight Tracker reports Flight 1942 left Charlotte at 8:56 p.m. Monday and arrived at LaGuardia at 10:44 p.m., about 20 minutes behind schedule.

After the aircraft - an Airbus A321 - remained on the ground overnight, a cleaning crew came on board ahead of the plane's planned Tuesday departure.

The fetus was between three to six months along. An autopsy is being performed on the fetus to determine cause of death. "Please check with @AmericanAir before your departure", the post said.

But a spokesman for the airline said, "We have no major impact to our operation this morning while we are working with law enforcement on an investigation".

The plane was later pictured being moved to a hanger as law enforcement began investigating the find.

The Queens District Attorney's Office is investigating the incident. Officials said a short time later that the flight was delayed until 4 p.m.
