DIA, parts of Adams County, under severe thunderstorm warning

A thunderstorm over Hillman Marsh. Severe thunderstorm watches are in effect for Strathroy, Oxford, Elgin, and Middlesex Counties, Chatham-Kent, and Windsor-Essex.

A Severe Thunderstorm WARNING is in effect for areas of southwest Pueblo County and northeast Huerfano County until 3:45 pm.

Environment Canada said meteorologists are tracking a line of unsafe thunderstorms they say are capable of producing damaging wind gusts, up to nickel size hail and heavy rain.

Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall. Some of the storms could produce wind gusts up to 90 km/h.

The unsettled weather may continue into the evening hours as well. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.

The national weather service warns people to take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches.
