DSS pulls out of n’assembly after sack of DG

Nigeria's acting president Yemi Osinbajo has fired the head of the country's intelligence agency, according to Osinbajo's aide, after masked security men prevented lawmakers and staff from entering the country's parliament earlier in the day.

Osinbajo, SAN, has also described the unauthorized takeover of the National Assembly complex earlier today, Tuesday, as a gross violation of constitutional order, rule of law and all accepted notions of law and order.

He said by sacking Daura, the acting president had given meaning to the cries of Nigerians that they would not tolerate such anti-democratic actions.

Recall that Senate President Bukola Saraki had called for a leadership meeting of the national assembly.

He accused the current administration of lacking "strategy" and engaging in acts that could undermine Nigeria's democracy.

Osinbajo's personal assistant tweeted that the former DSS chief had been directed to hand over to the most senior officer of the State Security Service till further notice.

Daura, who was summoned to the presidential villa by the acting president a few minutes before his sack, was directed to hand over to the most senior officer of the DSS until further notice.
