Killed When Light Plane from Concord Crashes in SoCal

Five people on board the small airplane were killed but nobody on the ground was hurt when the twin-engine Cessna crashed in the Southern California parking lot, authorities said.

The FAA launched an investigation into the crash, and added that the National Transportation Safety Board will determine the probable cause.

The plane crushed a auto in the crash, but fortunately there was no one inside the vehicle at the time.

The incident took place around 12:30 pm local time, when malls and stores typically bustle with customers. Authorities have no other information about the flight at this time, Bommarito said.

The Cessna 414 is registered to an owner in San Francisco, according to Federal Aviation Administration records. "You just felt the ground move", she said.

"It actually came down in front of us. It didn't even look like it was trying to land", Ella Pham told USA Today.

"There was no fire, no flames, no smoke, nothing". They said she was 29 years old.

The location of the crash is between the cities of Santa Ana and Costa Mesa, about 40 minutes south of Los Angeles. A vehicle can be seen parked mere meters from the wreckage.

Shortly after declaring an emergency on Sunday afternoon the plane suddenly nosedived into the parking lot.
