Milinkovic-Savic worth more than Pogba, says Lazio president

Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has insisted that he is fully focused on staying at the Serie A club amid continued speculation over his future.

The midfielder represented Serbia at the World Cup and reported back to Rome this week amid links to the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea, while Inter are reported to have reignited their interest in his signature.

With rumours over the future of Paul Pogba continuing to swirl, Jose Mourinho might already have found his replacement if these latest reports are to be believed. Manager Jose Mourinho has been left frustrated with the lack of signings and is desperate to add more players to his roster before the transfer window closes.

"I'm happy to be back", the midfielder said.

Milinkovic-Savic has been on Manchester United's radar for a long time now, with the 20-time English champions linked with a move for the 23-year old all summer.

The Serbia global was linked with a move to Old Trafford much earlier in the window. "The league will be more demanding than a year ago".

"Milinkovic-Savic is younger, fits the same prototype as Pogba in terms of physicality, ability, vision, passing, range etc, is available from Lazio and would cost less to buy that United sell Pogba for".

Milinkovic-Savic joined Lazio in 2015 from Belgian side Genk and has gone on to make more than 100 appearances for the club.

It's suggested in the report that Lazio are in no rush to sell Milinkovic-Savic to Man Utd as they feel Real Madrid may come calling later in the summer after selling Cristiano Ronaldo while Luka Modric and Mateo Kovacic are also being linked with moves away from the Bernabeu.
