Nintendo Sends Out Press Release For Nintendo Switch Online Service

For as close as we are to Nintendo Switch Online's launch, there are still some crucial details that are unknown.

Nintendo announced today that Nintendo Switch Online, the paid subscription service coming to Switch this year, will launch in the second half of September. That means we're likely around six weeks out from launch at the point, but until we get a specific release date, that's all just speculation. When the service launches, online multiplayer in games will be locked behind the subscription. The service will also grant you access to online-enabled NES games and cloud-based save data backups. This includes titles like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Splatoon 2, and ARMS. So far Ice Climber, The Legend of Zelda, Balloon Fight, Soccer, Tennis, Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros., Dr. Mario, Super Mario Bros.

We'll update as soon as more details about the service are released.

If you haven't heard already, the Switch Online price is going to be significantly less than Xbox Live Gold or PS Plus. The plans start at $4 United States dollars a month and users can also purchase a three month subscription for $8, or the most discounted rate of $20 for a full year.
