Sony Has Sold 3,000,000 PlayStation VR Consoles

Sony has announced that globally it has now sold over 3 million PS VR units. "In addition to the robust catalog of almost 340 PS VR games and experiences worldwide, there's still plenty to look forward to, as we have a great lineup of games coming in 2018 and beyond, including Astro Bot Rescue Mission, Blood & Truth, Déraciné, Firewall Zero Hour, and more!" The Microsoft device (the HoloLens), unlike the others, is classified as a "mixed reality" headset.

We still don't know how many Oculus Rift or HTC Vive headsets have been sold, but Sony, meanwhile, is trumpeting a milestone figure today: Three million. He added: "The entirety of the market is probably less than 6 million headsets, so still way too small to matter".

Survios entered the virtual reality (VR) fitness sector earlier this year with Sprint Vector and soon the studio plans on cementing that position with movie tie-in Creed: Rise to Glory, a heart-pumping boxing title.

The top 10 most-played PS VR games to date have been "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR", "PlayStation VR Worlds", "Rec Room", "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard", "The Playroom VR", "Job Simulator", "Until Dawn: Rush of Blood", "Batman: Arkham VR", "Farpoint" and "Superhot VR", according to Sony. Creed: Rise to Glory is hitting PlayStation VR as of September 25, and pre-orders are now available.

Early this morning on Twitter, the PlayStation Europe Twitter account took to the internet to announce the news with a quick thank you.

The numbers of PSVR compared to those of competitors (and competitors is a stretch considering the only VR unit capable of being used with a PlayStation is PSVR) are very telling.

And it's not like Sony hasn't made PSVR accessible.
