Starbucks releases plant-based cold brew options

Starbucks Protein Blended Cold Brew - how does that sound?

Both beverages start with a base of cold brew concentrate, ice, and a date and banana fruit blend, as well as the new plant protein supplement (it's made from rice and peas).

Starbucks baristas craft the beverage by blending Starbucks Cold Brew with Coconutmilk, plant-based protein, cacao powder, Banana Date Fruit Blend and ice.

The new cold drink is available in two versions, almond and Cacao.

Starbucks Canada expands its blended beverage lineup with the introduction of two new plant-based Protein Blended Cold Brew beverages.

Starbucks has really upped their game with their new vegan Cold Brew options.

And with that, we're off to break a sweat, then fuel up on protein cold brew...from Starbucks no less. And while the company has, in recent years, committed to offering more vegetarian and vegan items, fully vegan beverages were a little harder to come by.

"Plant-based beverages, plant-based proteins are a choice that many consumers are gravitating towards", Starbucks's CEO Kevin Johnson said in June at an annual institutional-investor gathering. The drinks carry between 10 to 12 grams of protein and 180 mg of caffeine in every cup.

Cold brew joined the Starbucks menu in 2015 and Starbucks. With the extra protein and lower calories, this cold drink could satisfy the cold, blended craving without over the extra guilt.

If you are looking for something new the next time you head to Starbucks, consider grabbing one of these vegan-friendly coffee drinks. Maybe you don't want the banana date fruit blend and would rather a whole banana be used? More options for customizing these drinks can be found on the Starbucks website. Of course, there are plenty of cold brew and regular coffee options as well.
