Trump suspects DOJ official Bruce Ohr's clearance will be revoked

"I know that I've gotten tremendous response from having done that, because security clearances are very important to me".

Signaling that his efforts to target clearances over his frustration with the Russian Federation investigation were not over, Trump tweeted that it was a "disgrace" for Bruce Ohr to be in the Justice Department. "For him to be in the Justice Department and doing what he did, that is a disgrace".

Most recently, Ohr has come under scrutiny for his alleged dealings with the author of the anti-Trump dossier and potentially secret meetings with Glenn Simpson of Fusion GPS.

Ohr was a contact in 2016 for Christopher Steele, the ex-British spy who investigated Trump's Russian connections.

The newspaper reports that Trump called the investigation a "rigged witch hunt. a sham" and went on to declare, "And these people led it".

Former CIA Director John Brennan has dominated the headlines this week after President Trump revoked his security clearance on Wednesday due to national security concerns.

This comes days after Trump told reporters that he blames Brennan and his other enemies in the intelligence community for Robert Mueller's investigation.

"As former senior intelligence officials, we feel compelled to respond in the wake of the ill-considered and unprecedented remarks and actions by the White House regarding the removal of John Brennan's security clearances", they wrote.

Trump's comments, made to reporters as he boarded Marine One en route to a Republican campaign event in NY, came amid rising criticism of the president for using security clearances as a political tool. There has been speculation, according to the Washington Examiner, that Trump could try removing Bob Mueller's security clearance, as a tactic to end the investigation.

McRaven previously has been vocal in his criticism of Trump's performance as president. Many people don't even know who he is, and now he's a bigger voice, and that's okay with me, because I like taking on voices like that.

But Republicans, including some who've been critical of Mr. Trump, said Mr. Brennan has crossed lines with his vicious criticism of the new president.

The columnist wrote that Congress should hold oversight hearings over Trump's decision to revoke Brennan's security clearance and pass legislation that would spell out the grounds for revoking a security clearance, and the procedure for challenging such a revocation.

Trump's actions have been widely condemned, including by respected former admiral William McRaven, the commander of the US Navy SEAL raid that killed Osama bin Laden.
