Audi Sport e-tron GT concept set for 2018 LA auto show

The e-tron will arrive on United Kingdom roads early in 2019, at a price starting from £70,805. That's twice as much as Tesla's charging station, whose installation is arranged by Tesla itself. Audi, BMW, and Mercedes are all introducing electric SUVs in the next year or two. Depending on the driving style and conditions, the e-tron offers a range of up to 310 miles.

Over the next few years, a coupe version of the e-tron SUV will also be introduced, as will an electric compact auto.

During Monday's reveal of the 2019 Audi e-tron electric SUV in San Francisco, Autoblog learned that a concept of the e-tron GT will be presented in November at the 2018 Los Angeles auto show.

According to Reuters, the new Audi all-electric SUV called the E-Tron. The e-tron's 95 kWh battery has less capacity than the 100 kWh battery used in the Tesla Model X 100D model, but more than the base Model X 75D.

While the next couple of years may be less of a fight than Tesla bears anticipate, Audi as a brand represents a legitimate foe, according to Musk's past statements.

From navigation with the e-tron route planner, which displays the appropriate route with the required charging points, automated billing at the charging station and all the way to remote control via smartphone - the Audi e-tron is extremely well connected.

Electric options will be available "in every relevant market segment from the compact to the full-size class", starting with the e-tron and a Sportback estate version, both on sale in 2019.

The Audi crossover that reportedly starts at $74,800 was revealed shortly after other European majors took some steps to challenge Tesla's dominance in the electric vehicles market. By July 2019, this network will include almost 500 fast-charging sites complete or under development throughout 40 states and 17 metro areas. Electrify America plans to have 2,000 chargers installed by mid-June next year.

Powering the e-tron are two electric motors, one on each axle.

Audi said the use of such smart factory technology made the increasing complexity and broad spectrum of variants in vehicle production manageable. These replace the traditional door mirrors with small rear-facing cameras that display their images on high-contrast displays in the cockpit, improving the car's aerodynamics in the process by removing the drag-inducing mirror housings. A wing spoiler, 20-inch wheels, and black body cladding complete the e-tron's exterior.

Also in the e-tron's favor is the placement of the center console screens, which are slightly oriented towards the driver, unlike the ones in the Q8.
