Dozens of potential victims come forward in OC surgeon sex assault case

Fast-forward four years, and California authorities say he and his current girlfriend used their good looks and charm to drug and rape at least two women.

Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas said his office had received dozens of new leads, with claims from at least 12 women and one man now being investigated, the LA Times reported.

The crimes may have taken place over the last two decades - some outside the state of California, Rackauckas said.

Rackauckas said Robicheaux, an orthopedic surgeon, "may have targeted victims through dating apps such as Tinder and Bumble", but there was no evidence to suggest any of his medical patients were victimized. You don't know what's behind. what appears to be a flawless smile'.

In the two cases that have resulted in criminal charges, prosecutors contend the pair met one victim at a Newport Beach bar and another at a restaurant, drugged them, lured them to Robicheaux's apartment and sexually assaulted them.

Some of the women who have come forward indicated to prosecutors that they felt the need to support the the two women Robicheaux is accused of raping, Rackauckas said.

"All allegations of non-consensual sex are unequivocally denied by Grant Robicheaux and his girlfriend Cerissa Riley", attorneys Philip Cohen and Scott Borthwick said in a statement. Riley could face 30 years behind bars.

Investigators are now combing through "thousands" of videos on Robicheaux's phone that allegedly show women who "appear to be highly intoxicated, beyond the ability to consent or resists", Rackauckas told reporters earlier this week.

Attorneys for Robicheaux and Riley have denied the allegations. They are both free on $100,000 bonds and are due to be arraigned October 25 at the Harbor Justice Center in Newport Beach.

Prosecutors believe there could be many other victims, as more than 1,000 videos were found on Robicheaux's phone of intoxicated women who were unable to consent to sexual contact, said District Attorney Tony Rackauckas at a September 18 press conference. The pair allegedly took the victim back to their apartment once she was intoxicated, drugged her and raped her.

Afterward, they drugged and raped the woman, the district attorney said.

Investigators believe Riley approached the women at a bar or restaurant, then invited her boyfriend over, Rackauckas said Tuesday.

Some videos show women who "appear to be highly intoxicated beyond the ability to consent or resist, and they're barely responsive to the defendant's sexual advances", Rackauckas said.

The district attorney showed reporters video of Robicheaux appearing in the Bravo reality TV show, "Online Dating Rituals of the American Male" and photos of the two suspects in various locations. "Riley believe that such allegations do a disservice to, and dangerously undermine, the true victims of sexual assault, and they are eager to have the proper spotlight shed on this case in a public trial", the statement read.
