First look at Joaquin Phoenix as The Joker revealed

A few days ago, we got our first look at Joaquin Phoenix as The Joker.

After what seems like an eternity, we have finally caught a glimpse of Joaquin Phoenix as the Clown Prince of Crime. I'm surprised that we received this look so early on during production, but leaks were likely imminent as filming is well underway.

According to Rolling Stone, the new film is reportedly inspired by King of Comedy and Taxi Driver, is set to hit the big screens in October 2019.

Warner Bros. Pictures posted a camera test from Phillips on Friday.

In the video on TMZ, which you can access in the link below, the video shows a New York City subway, specifically in Uptown, Manhattan.

Phillips (The Hangover trilogy) directs from a screenplay he co-wrote with writer Scott Silver (The Fighter), based on characters from DC.

Sadly, Jared Leto plans on reprising his role as the Joker in another upcoming movie, too.

Labeled a "camera test" by Phillips, the clip ends with Phoenix's Joker wearing clown makeup.

The hype for this movie which will have many genre fans salivating with anticipation, continued today with a trailer that reveals this film will revovle around the origins of the character. It will also star Robert De Niro, Marc Maron ("GLOW") and Zazie Beetz ("Deadpool 2").

The standalone origin movie, which is due out next year, is meant to be an "exploration of a man disregarded by society that is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale", Phillips says.
