Jordan Matthews delivers quote of the year about Buffalo

Trying to infuse some life into a banged-up wide receiving corps, the Eagles have brought back wide receiver Jordan Matthews to a one-year deal.

Matthews now returns to an Eagles team which is in need of help at receiver with Alshon Jeffery still not yet back following offseason shoulder surgery. And even though Wallace had struggled to make an impact on offense before the injury took place, the Eagles receiver deserves some benefit of the doubt since the unit in general was struggling for the most part while dealing with all of these key injuries. That could indicate running back Darren Sproles' hamstring injury isn't healing as fast as hoped.

Matthews spent last season with the Buffalo Bills, finishing with 25 catches for 282 yards and a touchdown in 10 games with seven starts.

Matthews, 26, was originally the Eagles' second-round pick in 2014. Matthews was the Eagles' top receiver in 2015 and 2016 and developed a close relationship with quarterback Carson Wentz.

Before the trade, Matthews showed promise with the Eagles, averaging 75 receptions for 891 yards and 6.3 touchdowns over his three seasons. Matthews will serve as a familiar security blanket over the middle for Wentz, with Nelson Agholor likely spending most of his time as an outside receiver, at least for now.
