Manchester City turn on style after Sane's flying start fells Fulham

He has certainly started this season with a bang as City look to become the first team to defend the Premier League title in nearly a decade.

Pep Guardiola made four changes to his side, including a first Premier League start of the season for Sane, and the out-of-favour Germany global took just 97 seconds to make his impact.

Sane, who opened the scoring inside two minutes, said: "A fantastic week for me - I became a daddy this week!"

With that Barcelona team possessing arguably the greatest player to ever grace the game in Lionel Messi, and the outstanding midfield duo of the generation in Xaxi and Iniesta, it's hard to make a strong case for City playing against this side.

'Unfortunately, we didn't do a surprise today and if I analyse the game, Ryan played a good game and I believe it is good for him and for his development and for his experience'.

Chelsea and Liverpool may be doing their part in making this season's title race infinitely more interesting than the last version, thus far at least, but while Pep Guardiola's defending champions have the luxury of such overwhelming strength in depth, Manchester City will take some stopping. "It's a challenge for him and not just him - everybody", Guardiola told a news conference ahead of City's clash against Fulham.

"I've always said that I would like to play for Las Palmas, but we'll see how things are in two years". He has to realise for himself like a professional he has to do. "I'm delighted for his performance and [give him] a big compliment".

The only slight disappointment for Guardiola was that his side squandered so many chances and Sergio Aguero will require assessment before Wednesday's Champions League tie against Lyon about being substituted early in the second half with a sore ankle.

City were able to drop down a gear without surrendering any of their control over the game, and they continued to create chances too with Sterling and Jesus both failing to hit the target. When he fell down, he felt something.

The hosts got number three two minutes into the second half. He finished good the first half and the second half started a little bit uncomfortable.

"I give a lot of credit to Fulham, Fulham ask a lot from us, from them because they want to play", he said. "I'm pretty sure they'll have a good season".
