NBA, Seattle Sports Stars Salute Storm, Breanna Stewart On WNBA Finals Win

Natasha Howard added career-high 29 points and 14 rebounds for the Storm and first-year coach Dan Hughes. "I'm going to tell you what, they were special in November, January, and when we started April 29th, and they're special tonight".

"Just knowing that Game 3 was so important; obviously playing on the road is tough, but we knew we could close out this series and we wanted to do it today", Stewart said.

Mystics star and former league MVP Elena Delle Donne led Washington with 23 points, shooting 9-of-18 from the field.

After the parade, the team will make its way into KeyArena for a rally, hosted by Seattle play-by-play talent Dick Fain and color analyst Elise Woodward. And her experience with the Fever and the Lynx in previous WNBA Finals showed in how well she played throughout this year for the Storm.

In the three games she averaged 25.6 points for the Storm who also won league titles in 2004 and 2010. Beyond the obvious, the circumstances of a venue change (thanks, Drake and Migos), the rise of the Washington Mystics in a short period of time has been nothing short of remarkable.

What took place on Wednesday night on the campus of George Mason University, in a green-and-yellow arena turned red-and-blue, would have been hard to imagine just two years ago. The chance to come back in 2018 with a championship-caliber team was something Hughes couldn't pass up. "Not now. We know they're going home and they'll feel good about being at home in front of their fans". She became just the sixth player in league history to win the regular-season and Finals MVP award in the same year. It's when people say things like, 'There's no basketball in Seattle anymore.' Or, like, 'We need pro basketball back in Seattle.' They're talking about how the Sonics are gone. "We don't feel like we peaked and this is it for us", Delle Donne said.

The 24-year-old was also named the WNBA Finals MVP on Wednesday following her 30-point performance.

"There's been a huge transformation with the culture of this team", said Delle Donne, who was acquired by Washington before the 2017 season. "Now I can go to the bar, order her everything she needs".

Seattle converted 13 of 26 shots behind the arc, while Washington never found the mark behind the arc. Howard finished the first half with 17 points and eight rebounds, shooting 5-of-6 from the field. "But our perimeter shooting allowed us to create some separation and then we managed the game pretty well". "This isprobably going to be one of the defining moments of my career". But Seattle pulled away to capture the championship. "I, unfortunately, wasn't able to practice a lot in the moments that we had off, so I was kind of trying to figure out my go-to moves as games were going on and just trying to get comfortable finding different ways". I think we've really grown this fanbase.
