Woman Accusing Judge Kavanaugh of Sexual Assault Wants FBI Probe

As you know, earlier this summer, Dr. Ford sought to tell her story, in confidence, so that lawmakers would have a fuller understanding of Brett Kavanaugh's character and history. Hence her silence on Democratic colleague and choice for DNC Chair, Rep. Keith Ellison, whose former girlfriend Karen Monahan claims he physically and emotionally abused her.

Matt Barber, co-founder and chief counsel of Christian Civil Rights Watch, says Republicans deserve blame, too, for backtracking on the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh over allegations by Christine Blasey Ford of a sexual assault in the 1980s. John Kennedy (R-LA) emphasized that she, through her lawyer, had asked for a public hearing earlier this week.

"We've offered Dr. Ford the opportunity to share her story with the committee, as her attorney said yesterday she was willing to do.

Official: FBI Will Not investigate Kavanaugh Unless the White House Demands It", said that he was told by a senior USA official that the FBI will not investigate because what Ford is alleging is not a federal crime. She said in an interview with the Washington Post that at a party in Montgomery county, Maryland, Kavanaugh led her into a bedroom, pinned her to the bed and groped her, attempting to remove the bathing suit she was wearing and putting his hand over her mouth to stop her from screaming before she was able to escape. "I'm not concerned about tanking the nomination", he said. Dianne Feinstein, the top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, for not bringing forward a letter detailing the allegation, which she has had for months, sooner.

Trump has already rejected the idea of bringing in the Federal Bureau of Investigation to reopen its background check of Kavanaugh.

If he ordered such a review, it would be likely to delay a confirmation vote until after the election.

However, the Republicans were careful not to sound insensitive in the case as they openly supported the upcoming Monday's hearing against the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Now, Ford is protesting that a hearing scheduled for next week would be too soon.

An FBI investigation "should be the first step in addressing the allegations", wrote the lawyers for Ms Ford, who is now a college professor in California. "Only then should the chairman set a hearing date".

Patrick J. Smyth - who graduated with Kavanaugh from Georgetown Prep in North Bethesda, Md, in 1983 - also denied seeing any "improper conduct" from the nominee, CNN reported, citing a letter written by Smyth's lawyer and sent to the Senate Judiciary Committee. Harry Reid (D) of Nevada, when he was Senate majority leader.

While she does not plan to testify, Ford's friends are coming to her defense, saying she does not have a political agenda. A panel vote is scheduled for Thursday, just weeks before the congressional midterm elections.

If the Judiciary committee's timetable slips, it would become increasingly hard for Republicans to schedule a vote before midterm elections on November 6 elections, when congressional control will be at stake.
