Alexa's low-key Whisper Mode is going live today

Back toward the end of September, Amazon held an event where it announced a boat load of new products. The new feature will allow users to whisper into Alexa and get responses back as whispers from the speaker.

Whisper Mode was first unveiled last month, but it should be rolling out to all Echo device owners today; at least, those in the US.

Whisper Mode could prove particularly useful for parents anxious about waking up their children or simply those looking to keep the noise down in the morning or evening for various reasons. And that's going to be really useful when you don't want to disrupt anyone, like when your kid is sleeping.

Whisper Mode is reportedly powered by the same technology behind Alexa Guard, which recognises smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms, and glass breaking, turning Alexa into a home security system.

Amazon is expanding the ways you can interact with Alexa yet again. As reported by TechCrunch, it will soon be possible to communicate with the AI entirely via whispers. To enable it in the app, open your settings menu, tap "Alexa Account", then head into "Alexa Voice Responses" and toggle "Whispered Responses". - "Alexa, turn on Whisper Mode".
