Chris Hemsworth gives hitchhiker a lift to Byron Bay - via helicopter!

And on Tuesday's Sunrise, travelling musician Scott Hildebrand admitted that he did not recognise the Hollywood actor at first.

'He seemed like a normal dude, ' Scott said.

On Monday, Chris and Luke showed Scott some famous Australian hospitality by offering the global visitor a free ride.

"I was at the airport terminal in Brisbane trying to get back to Byron and yeah, just thought I'd try and hitch hike". In the beginning of the video, Luke narrated the tale of having "just landed in Brizzy (Brisbane)" when they spotted a hitchhiker.

"We're going to Byron, we'll give him a lift", Hemsworth says in a video of the encounter which he posted to his Instagram page on Monday.

Luke then panned the camera over to Chris sitting in the van's backseat, who said: 'We're going to Byron, we'll give him a lift!'

It turns out that this hitchhiker was a United States musician named Scott Hildebrand, who had just arrived from Mexico, and he was headed to Byron Bay for some surfing.

Mr Hildebrand was invited to get into a vehicle with Mr Hemsworth and his friend Luke Zocchi after travelling from Mexico to Brisbane, before being surprised with the sky-high trip.

Scott, who had just arrived in Australia after a trip to Mexico, looked ecstatic about the surprising yet fortunate turn of events.

"I'd actually never hitch hiked before", Scott told the radio show.

"Chip in for the gas, all right", Hemsworth joked.
