Days Gone Delayed to Avoid Horde of New Releases on PS4

Instead, the devs working on Days Gone get a little more time to polish the game, and Sony gets a release date that should be nowhere near as crowded - April 26, 2019. So the choice is disappointing but wise, at least. Days Gone was delayed to 2019 in March, but once Sony revealed its February 22 release date at E3, several publishers did the same for their AAA titles.

While Days Gone's most recent release date announcement was that it would arrive in February 2019, that has just been pushed back.

Despite its ability to throw hundreds of zombies on screen at once the post-apocalyptic open world game has always faced criticism for the unoriginality of its setting and similarity to other Sony first party games. Players take on the role of biker and bounty hunter Deacon St. John as he fights to survive. They aren't totally wrong in having some fears that a strong early 2019 line-up could affect the bottom line of Days Gone.

While delays can certainly be disappointing for those who have been waiting for so long, delays ultimately help a game become better in the long run.

A handful of other games got some release date updates, as well. PlayStation VR game by FromSoftware will be sticking to its schedule and releasing on November 6 later this year.

According to the company, the additional time will allow Bend Studio to further refine the gaming experience for a successful launch.

For more on Bend Studio and the world of single-player, keep up with OnlySP on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. Bend Studio's last game was Uncharted: Golden Abyss for the PlayStation Vita in 2012. Sony makes note of all of them at the end of the blog post: "The studios are hard at work polishing up these epic PS4 games, but we aren't yet ready to share a release timeframe".
