Elizabeth Warren, President Trump Spar Over Cherokee Heritage

Trump has continued to attack the MA senator and potential 2020 rival on Twitter charging Tuesday morning "that her claims of being of Indian heritage have turned out to be a scam and a lie" and saying she "should apologize for perpetrating this fraud against the American Public". While conservative hosts Meghan McCain and Abby Hunstman agreed that Warren's stunt was "pretty embarrassing for her", Whoopi Goldberg recoiled, saying that the senator was simply trying to hold Trump accountable to his claim that he would donate $1 million to charity if Warren proved her ancestry. Warren, they say, "is undermining tribal interests with her continued claims of tribal heritage".

Kim TallBear, the Canada Research Chair in Indigenous Peoples, Technoscience and Environment at the University of Alberta, issued a statement saying "For Elizabeth Warren to centre a Native American ancestry test as the next move in her fight with Republicans is to make yet another strike - even if unintended - against tribal sovereignty".

"She's been consistently misleading the people of MA and the American people in saying that she had this claim". "Even they don´t want her. Phony!"

"I think I can beat her", Graham said.

"I'm going to take a DNA test", he told "Fox & Friends".

Although the conventional wisdom among students and faculty is that the Law School faculty includes no minority women, Chmura said Professor of Law Elizabeth Warren is Native American.

The release was also a blow to President Trump, who once mocked her for claiming she had Native American ancestry. When pressed on the once-promised $1 million payment, Trump responded: "I didn't say that".

That's not good enough for some critics, most prominently Trump, who in utilizing his remarkable talent for turning schoolyard slurs into political ammo against his rivals dubbed Warren "Pocahontas", after the Native American woman in colonial Virginia whose memory deserves better treatment than this.

Trump gleefully incorporated the statement into his tweets at the MA senator, saying on Tuesday: "Now Cherokee Nation denies her, 'DNA test is useless.' Even they don't want her. Phony!"

"What she needs to do is come out and apologize to all of us".

Warren said earlier this month that she will strongly consider running in 2020, once next month's midterm elections are done. On Monday, Trump first denied ever making such a promise.

For decades, Warren had claimed to have Native-American heritage-dating back to 1984 when she reportedly called herself a Cherokee in a local Oklahoma cookbook.

He called the situation involving Warren "a freaky, self-inflicted injury" for the potential 2020 presidential candidate who is seeking reelection this November as well. "This is the thing you've been obsessed about for years", Trevor Noah said on "The Daily Show".
