Floor collapse near Clemson University leaves at least 30 hurt, authorities say

Dozens of people were injured early Sunday when a floor collapsed during a party at an apartment building near Clemson University in SC.

People could be heard screaming as they tried to claw their way out of the pool of injured bodies.

News reports cited a Clemson City Police Department as saying that a call was received about 12:30 a.m. Sunday about the collapse of a floor at an apartment clubhouse. "People were bleeding. I had blood on my sneakers".

Partygoers screamed, and those who didn't fall stood on portions of the first floor that remained.

Tester said emergency responders were there in just minutes, and he saw people holding their arms or with bloody legs.

Shocking footage shot from the inside the party showed people jumping while they danced just as the floor collapsed.

"It was insane", Pearson said.

The floor collapse occurred in a clubhouse unit that had been leased for a private party.

Property manager Tal Slann told The Associated Press that the condominium complex was built in 2004-2005.

According to Chief Dixon, none of the injuries appear life-threatening. "Nobody was trapped", he said.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
