How Ohio State football players reacted to Nick Bosa's early NFL decision

Ohio State defensive end Nick Bosa and his family have chose to focus on the next phase of his football career, which means his emphasis will be on training for the 2019 NFL draft once he is cleared to do so, several sources told The Dispatch on Tuesday. "I think it's tough for everybody, including Nick", Schiano said of the decision. A later update from Bosa's father was that Bosa would be out at least until being re-evaluated in November.

The school announced the news in a statement on Tuesday, Oct. 16. To John Bosa, that's not enough time for his son to recover. Bosa would be the Raiders' first first-round pick since Joey Bosa, Nick's older brother, went third overall to the San Diego Chargers in 2016. The 2019 National Football League draft is April 25-27 in Nashville, Tennessee. He is expected to be a first-round draft pick. The Buckeyes have not been able to run the ball efficiently or to their standards this season and part of that is due to teams loading the box and not respecting Dwayne Haskins on the read-option plays, but the other issue is the offensive line is not getting any push.

Asked about Bosa, as well as future first-round pick Denzel Ward skipping Ohio State's bowl game a year ago, Meyer praised both and said: "I certainly understand and we support [the players]". Despite apparently being informed of the decision on Sunday, Meyer said during his Monday press conference that he was "hoping" they would get Bosa back.

In a statement earlier Tuesday, Meyer said, "I know this was an extremely hard and emotional decision for Nick and his family, and I wish him well as he moves on to get himself 100 percent healthy and ready for his next chapter". I want to thank Nick for the remarkable efforts he gave for this program.

Meyer said freshmen Tyreke Smith and Tyler Friday have shown continued improvement and likely will figure more into the rotation as the season progresses.
