Israel increases armoured presence at Gaza border amid continuing protests

"Israel views, with great severity, the attacks on it along the fence, on the Gaza perimeter, on Beersheba, everywhere", Netanyahu said Wednesday after the IDF struck Hamas targets in retaliation to rocket fire which damaged a house in the Southern Israeli city of Beersheba.

Euro-Med described the continued use of excessive force by Israeli forces against Palestinian protesters at the Israel-Gaza fence as "deeply shocking", noting that in the 200 days of protests, Gaza lost 205 residents. An Israeli soldier was also killed by a Palestinian sniper.

Some protesters launched kites and balloons equipped with crude incendiary devices across the border into southern Israel.

The warnings of the United Nations official to the possibility of war in the Gaza Strip come after the council of ministers of the Israeli entity issued on Wednesday instructions to the occupation army to escalate its response to the marches of return, which continue since March 30, describing the demonstrations as riots on the security fence in the Gaza Strip.

This did not prevent Housing Minister Yoav Galant, however, from making provocative comments to reporters.

On its official website, the Brigades posted a brief video showing a Brigades fighter preparing to fire a salvo of rockets into Israeli territory.

According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, 115 people were injured, many by live ammunition.

A Ma'an reporter said that Palestinian crowds gathered alongside the eastern borders of districts of the Gaza Strip for the 30th Friday of "The Great March of Return" protests.

The groups also vowed to continue Gaza protests until the Israeli siege on the Palestinian region is terminated.

The Israeli airstrikes and ground campaign to put an end to Palestinian rocket attacks resulted in the death of thousands of people, the vast majority of them Gazans.

More than 2 million Palestinians are packed into the coastal enclave. Israel responded by cutting off Qatari-funded fuel shipments meant to ease a chronic electricity shortage. "Israel has repeatedly used lethal force unnecessarily and excessively against unarmed protesters in shameless violation of worldwide law", said Saleh Higazi.

Clashes, which have been repeatedly taking place since late March, intensify during every Friday prayers.

In Gaza, a Palestinian official said the Egyptian delegation was also in contact with Israeli officials to curb the current tensions.
