Martial insists he has good relationship with Mourinho

To his credit, Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri did not attempt to distance himself from the impoverished nature of the chaotic happenings.

That's the belief of former Chelsea keeper Mark Schwarzer, who thinks Pogba and Sanchez are being stifled due to their defensive responsibilities under Jose Mourinho.

United only recorded a single shot during the first half but Jose Mourinho's men came from behind to lead after the interval thanks to a brace from Anthony Martial.

"That is the way we have got to do it, the second half against Newcastle and 60-65 minutes of this game and as long as we play like that I'm sure we will get the result".

There remain several stylistic and tactical problems in this team but the desire of each player to give everything on the pitch is certainly there. The United manager taking the moral high ground over this episode will, in all likelihood, only add to the irritation felt at Stamford Bridge that this was an avoidable incident. "I spoke immediately with the member of my staff and I told him to speak with Mourinho and say sorry". Mourinho said afterwards that he accepted Ianni's apology in the aftermath.

"At this period of the season, one point more or one point less is the same, I want to play every match for three points", Sarri told reporters after the game, via the Express. "We were in the wrong on the situation". "What I call the Chelsea "triggers", we controlled them and the reality is we conceded two goals in set pieces not organised play", he said. He said: "We are not organised like this". In the second half we managed to transform that on occasions in goals, in ambition, in free-flow play with good intensity, good passing, good quality.

"I am really disappointed with the last 30 minutes". Kepa Arrizabalaga kept out Juan Mata's shot but Chelsea never properly cleared their lines and when Ashley Young had a go from the other side the ball took slight deflections off Jorginho and Rashford before reaching Martial, who fired in emphatically. In fact, since Jose Mourinho took over in 2016, no other player has contributed more goals than Martial, who has registered 23 goals and 18 assists in 96 games. "I have seen the match on the bench, and now want to study the second half of the match".

Still, it would be good for him, and United, for the story to focus on football once again.

"Chelsea are trained well and they know how they want to play", Schwarzer told Sky Sports.
