Samsung announces launch of new Galaxy A9

Samsung announces launch of new Galaxy A9

The patent titled "flexible display and method of controlling shape or display of flexible device" was published on September 20, 2018, and it resembles the foldable device promo Samsung showed back in 2014.

If Samsung can be believed, the Galaxy A9 is capable of taking better photos than the Galaxy S9 - which is curious given the former is a mid-range phone priced under $700 and the latter is a 2018 flagship.

We don't have a full spec sheet yet, but you can expect the company to make significant upgrades to the Note line's hardware next year.

Mobile chief DJ Koh this week explained why Samsung isn't rushing its origami-styled handset to market, although multiple other brands are lining up rival folding phones. The 24-megapixel main camera is complemented by an 8-megapixel sensor with ultra-wide-angle optics, a 10-megapixel camera with a telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom and a 5-megapixel depth sensor.

It's a camera that's created to capture every single type of moment.

What's With The Rear Quad Camera?

So chances seem good that you'll be able to get your hands on it when it eventually launches. If you haven't seen this, you're in for a treat.

The camera UI adds a couple of new touch controls to allow you toggle between the different lenses.

The Galaxy A9 follows the Galaxy A7, which is the first smartphone with a triple-lens camera at the back. On first impressions, the cameras are snappy although the camera UI can be a little finicky.

Koh doesn't reveal any specifics of the design or functionality.

As far as pricing goes, the device will be sold for around $725, after conversion, in an interesting range of colors like Bubblegum Pink, Lemonade Blue and Caviar Black. There's storage expansion (up to 512GB) via a dedicated microSD slot. This is a device that can capture a large group of friends anywhere inside, say, the twin towers or at a beach, without missing important details or unnecessarily leaving people out of the frame. Also, the smartphone has a fingerprint scanner and a 3800 mAh battery. Now with the Galaxy A9, Samsung is bringing significative changes to the table, but it is not the only one.
