Donald Trump berates Jim Acosta in contentious White House news conference

CNN reporter Jim Acosta asked Donald Trump whether he thought he had "dehumanised migrants" in his Midterm elections campaign rails, challenging the US President to explain why he had referred to the caravan of migrants arriving from Central America as an "invasion".

"In Jim's defense, I've traveled with him and watched him, he's a diligent reporter", Alexander said.

Mr. Acosta kept questioning the president about his midterm campaign ad that showed migrants scaling fences and barriers to illegal cross an global border on their way to America.

Mr. Acosta insisted the migrant caravan was "not an invasion".

Several television networks pulled the ad after airing it or declined to air it at all.

"When you report fake are an enemy of the people", he said. "It was true. Do you think they were actors?"

Trump launched into a riff about Democrats supposedly being weak on crime and illegal immigration, and he took swipes at the accuracy of NBC's coverage when Alexander tried to get him to directly answer his question.

"I'm not a big fan of yours either", Trump shot back. 'That's enough. That's enough'.

"Pardon me, ma'am", Acosta said. "That's enough. Put down the mic", Trump said.

Donald Trump went for the jugular Wednesday. calling a CNN reporter unfit for his job and a "terrible person". and it didn't end there. "The way you treat Sarah Huckabee [Sanders] is frightful".

'The way you treat Sarah Huckabee is disgusting, ' he said.

Acosta repeatedly presses Sanders in her rare briefings to clarify quotes and policy from the president.
