Florida man bitten after jumping into alligator farm exhibit

The man allegedly broke into St Augustine Alligator Farm in Florida to pull the insane stunt.

Authorities say Hatfield caused about $5,000 in damage at the 125-year-old zoo. They also found a bloody trail showing where the man had gone after being bit.

Brandon Hatfield allegedly jumped a fence at St. Augustine Alligator Farm on Tuesday night and spent about four hours inside a crocodile pen before being attacked by a 12-foot reptile, CBS News reported.

Hatfield, who remains hospitalized, was charged with burglary, criminal mischief and violation of probation. "It was later discovered the two calls were related", police said. Hatfield then scrambles out of water, leaving behind a trail of blood.

Surveillance video obtained by Action News Jacksonville shows the man standing on the walkway and then leaping over the rail and into the water at the St. Augustine Alligator Farm. When he sits on the bank of the pool, the "crocodile locks onto his left foot". The man had to get through several barriers to gain access to the crocodiles.

"I have a hard time justifying in my mind what I see, this guy seemingly staggering down some of the boardwalks but nimble enough to go over a 10-foot tall fence with barbed wire", he said. He was later transported to the hospital, the report stated.
