Honda Passport SUV teaser touts offroad chops

The rumors were true. "With customer demand for SUVs continuing to grow, the new adventure-ready Passport is going to further solidify our lineup, attracting new buyers and keeping existing customers in the Honda family".

After almost two decades, Honda has renewed its Passport SUV for 2019.

The Honda Passport crossover has been teased ahead of its full debut later this month at the 2018 Los Angeles motor show. It goes on sale early next year. The vehicle will undoubtedly be a unibody crossover like its bigger and smaller siblings, but the automaker assures the model will be capable of venturing off the beaten path.

We already knew the Ford Bronco was coming back, along with the Chevrolet Blazer and Lincoln Aviator, but now you can add the Honda Passport to this nostalgic list. The CR-V is now Honda's top-selling model and continues as the most popular SUV in America over the past 20 years. Honda hasn't released any details about the Passport yet, but says it will be "adventure-ready", "off-road capable", and that it was both designed and will be built in the USA, right alongside the Pilot in Alabama.

As the teaser video suggests, the Passport will be positioned as Honda's most capable SUV off the road. A report from Automotive News earlier this year indicated the new Passport will ride on the same platform as the Pilot, although it will be 6 inches shorter.
