Hornets Drop Road-Trip Opener in Overtime to Philadelphia

"They call me "clutch" for a reason, so got to make them", Embiid said.

Embiid thrives on getting to the line where he is shooting 81.8 percent, up from 76.9 percent last season.

"He responded all over the place", Brown said.

"I think he's been playing unbelievable", Simmons said of Embiid.

Simmons was much better at taking care of the ball Wednesday against IN, as it was his first game this season with fewer than two turnovers.

Leading the way for the 76ers was Embiid, who had a season-high 42 points, to go with 18 rebounds and four blocks.

To Embiid, the abundance of free throw attempts were all in a day's work. Hornets starting center Cody Zeller fouled out in regulation after committing five fouls in the fourth. I've got to step up when there's an opportunity.

The Sixers improved to 7-0 at the Wells Fargo Center, the most home wins to start the season since 2002-03. Those turnover rates are not almost high enough for me to say Yes.

Embiid then had to hop on his personal Twitter account and claim ownership of "a lot real estate" in Drummond's head with a photo of himself pushing a wheelbarrow of bricks ("And I'm on my way to build more"). I would absolutely have him on the floor late in the fourth quarter to take some pressure off of Walker.

Ben Simmons contributed 22 points, 13 assists and eight rebounds.

With the Sixers up a bucket and under a minute left, Simmons went behind his back and drove for a layup to make it 131-127. Philadelphia managed to tie it in the closing seconds and Walker's potential game-winner at the fourth-quarter buzzer came up short.

A 15-point loss in Milwaukee has given the Sixers an 0-3 clip on the road against the only three Eastern Conference teams ahead of them in the current standings. He did his job and we got the win. Head coach Brett Brown has made a decision to go with veteran sharpshooter J.J. Reddick, who offers a more reliable scoring presence in his second season with the team.

Dario Saric continued his resurgence, scoring 18 points and hitting 4 of 8 from 3.

Hayward had 13 points and seven assists in his first game back in Utah since leaving the Jazz in free agency after the 2016-17 season.

Karl-Anthony Towns scored 39 points and hauled in 19 rebounds, but it wasn't enough as the Timberwolves lost 121-110 to the Kings.

Smith, also is recovering from foot surgery, remains out indefinitely.

This new dynamic to the offense is vastly different from that of four weeks ago on opening night, when the pounding by the Celtics proved that this current 76ers squad is far from being atop of the Eastern Conference come playoff time.

Hornets: At the Detroit on Sunday.
