The administration of Pakistan Television (PTV) says someone from the news team accidentally mistyped PM Khan's location as "Begging" instead of Beijing - bringing a storm to the social media.

The misspelled word appeared in the top left corner of the screen, where the channel meant to show where Khan was.

Khan, who is on an official trip to China to secure an economic package for his cash-strapped country, was addressing a ceremony on Sunday at the Central Party School in Beijing which was shown live by the Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV).

Following the "typographical error" broadcast at the weekend, PTV posted a short statement on Twitter describing the incident as "regrettable". It said that a strict action has been initiated in the matter against the officials involved. In fact, "Begging" started trending.

Information and Broadcasting Minister Fawad Chaudhry has ordered an inquiry into the widely criticised dateline slug displayed by the PTV, The News reported. In this connection, a senior level delegation comprising of federal secretaries of finance, foreign affairs, planning and development and commerce along with the State Bank of Pakistan governor will undertake a visit to China during the current week to work out the modalities with the Chinese authorities in their respective areas.

China has invested tens of billions of dollars in Pakistan in recent years as part of its Belt and Road Initiative - which aims to link the economies of Asia, Africa and Europe via huge infrastructural projects.
