Morrissey Releases Statement Disputing "Stage Attack" in San Diego

Morrissey Releases Statement Disputing

It isn't clear as to why fans struck Morrissey, but in the past, he has made controversial comments in the media regarding immigration and other contentious subjects related to the United Kingdom and the nation's politics.

According to TMZ, the singer was swept off the stage in the middle of his encore at the San Diego Symphony Hall on Saturday. One fan made it through, though, and appeared to accidentally make contact with Morrissey's face.

Morrissey's recent concert in San Diego came to a halt over the weekend as a fan rushed the stage in a desperate attempt to touch the singer in some way. "Trying anything they could do to jump onstage and touch him, or hug him", Morrisey's representative Peter Katsis explained.

In a statement posted to Morrissey's official Twitter account, his manager Peter Katsis wrote: "Nobody tried to punch M last night". This is absolute crap. The fans were simply doing what they have been doing for nearly 30 years. I was honoured and grateful for such an excited and loving response.

The statement also confirms that no-one was hurt or arrested, though Morrissey didn't return to complete the encore which had been underway with a performance of Everyday Is Like Sunday. "TMZ, alas, live exclusively in a world of their own, and certain sections of the press seem enraged that there is nothing negative to report".
