Netflix Sued for $150 Million Over 'Sabrina' Series

The group is also seeking an injunction to block Netflix and Warner Bros., which produced the series, from distributing the show. Both production companies have declined to comment on the lawsuit, the BBC reported.

Baphomet is part of its campaign to "complement and contrast" a Ten Commandments monument in Oklahoma City on the grounds of religious freedom.

Co-founder of the Satanic Temple Lucien Greaves tweeted a picture comparing the two statues.

In a lawsuit filed on Thursday in NY (via Variety), the group alleges that four episodes of the show feature a Baphomet statue which bears a close resemblance to the one created by the temple. The real Satanists, it argues, did not deserve being associated with the show's antagonists, who "engage in cannibalism and forced-worship of a patriarchal deity".

The Satanic Temple alleges it created the statue of the goat-headed demon - called Baphomet with Children - that's copied in the Sabrina series, which follows the story of a young half-witch torn between mortal and magical worlds.

Founded in 2012, the group does not believe in a supernatural Satan, but instead works to ensure the separation of church and state and holds Satan as a symbol of "opposition to arbitrary authority". "A lot of people who haven't heard of us first stand to just recognize that monument as the "Sabrina" monument, which dilutes and denigrates the entire project".

The temple objected to the use of the statue's likeness in the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, which features a much darker portrayal of the teenage half-human, half-witch immortalized decades ago in Archie comics.

Some Satanic news now, with the latest update in the ongoing lawsuit that has been filed against Netflix over their new show, 'Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina'.
