OnePlus launches OnePlus 6T in India for Rs 37,999 onwards

If you only check the spec sheet this would look like nothing more than a minor refresh.

In case you missed last night's OnePlus 6T announcement, let us remind you that this is a high-end phone with a top-class design and powerful hardware. Unlike its predecessor, the 6T has a tiny waterdrop notch for the front camera. Brightness is over 600 nits, so there's a lot that's new with the display. A user just has to continue pressing the screen after the display is unlocked. Many will rue the absence of a conventional audio socket for headphones, though a USB Type-C version of OnePlus's bullet headphones is included in the box. Of course, you still have the option to rock a dongle if you choose.

There is one first that OnePlus shouldn't feel too proud about, though: as of the 6T, the company has officially ditched the headphone jack. The OnePlus 6T becomes the second smartphone after Oppo R17 to launch with the latest Gorilla Glass 6, and basically, it's the first one to launch globally.

A couple areas here are of note. Hampus says that he made nearly 20 wallpapers for the device and showed them to the company. OnePlus has also changed the storage configurations and now the device will start at 128 GB going up to 256 GB.

There's then a version with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage for $579 / £519 (roughly AU$825), and a model with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage for $629 / £569 (approximately AU$895).

That does it for the major changes here.

The battery incorporated in the OnePlus 6T will have a 3,700 mAh capacity and the device will come with a water drop notch as well.

If you're coming from the OnePlus 6, this might not be the biggest upgrade, but we can see the value for others coming from the OnePlus 5T and further back. This discount comes in the form of a cashback into your AmazonPay balance, and will be credited within 72 hours of the phone being dispatched for delivery. Ahead of the smartphone's launch in India, Amazon has revealed the long list of exciting offers that customers will be able to avail. As you can see, OnePlus and Mr. Olsson chose to include only three wallpapers on the OnePlus 6T, which is not surprising, as the company doesn't exactly include a ton of them out of the box, ever.

With trade-in, you can get the device for $0 down and $11.67/month for 24 months via T-Mobile's Equipment Installment Plan (EIP).

"We constantly challenge ourselves to give people the best experience possible, to do what's right, no matter what", Pete Lau, Founder and CEO at OnePlus said. A welcomed discount as the base model 6GB/128GB has now increased to $549. For a limited time (starting Thursday, Nov. 1), T-Mobile is offering a $300 credit when you trade in an eligible phone and purchase a OnePlus 6T.
