Pedro Pascal May Star In Disney's Star Wars Series, The Mandalorian

One of the big new shows that will premiere with the Disney streaming service starting late next year, called Disney Plus, is Jon Favreau's live-action Star Wars series, "The Mandalorian" The series has been in production now for some time and we already know several things about it from budget, to directors, to number of episodes.

Variety reports that Pedro Pascal has been offered the lead role in the highly-anticipated series and that negotiations are now underway.

Pascal had been rumored for the part, but sources said multiple actors were being considered and nothing was confirmed. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order.

You might remember Pascal for playing Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones, his iconic battle with the Mountain surely seared into all of our minds. Karen Gilchrist is co-executive producing. His other credits include Kingsman: The Golden Circle, The Equalizer 2, and The Great Wall.

Although only a loose description has been revealed, the show sounds like it's taking a Western-style approach to its story, with The Mandalorian as a "lone gunfighter" trying to survive on the outer edge of the galaxy, far from the civilized heart of the of the New Republic trying to rebuild after the galactic civil war. Upcoming projects include If Beale Street Could Talk, Wonder Woman 1984, and Netflix's Triple Frontier. Also on board to direct early episodes are Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok), Rick Famuyiwa (Dope), Deborah Chow (Jessica Jones)and actress Bryce Dallas Howard, whose previous directorial work has been limited to short films.

He is repped by WME and Untitled Entertainment.
