Rajinikanth condemns unlawful acts against Tamil film 'Sarkar'

Also, the film has set a record on the ticket booking app Book My Show by crossing the milestone of 1 million tickets being booked online. Vijay's Sarkar is now the highest opener in the state of Kerala for any language.

Tamil Nadu Information and Publicity Minister Kadambur Raju has demanded cuts in the Tamil movie Sarkar, alleging that some scenes in the film show AIADMK government led by late J Jayalalithaa in poor light. It is directed by AR Murugadoss and has music by Oscar victor AR Rahman.

The controversial scene in question features AR Murugadoss in a special cameo appearance, throwing away the freebies distributed by the state government into the fire during the song 'Oru Viral Puratchi'. The cadres have also taken umbrage at the portrayal of Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, whose character is named Komalavalli, the real name of Jayalalitha before she forayed into politics.

Meanwhile, the protest against the film has grown with AIADMKtearing banners of actor Vijay placed at theaters in Chennai, Madurai and Kovai.

However, the makers of the film Sun Picture are yet to officially announce if they are muting scenes.

Rajinikanth lashed out against these acts. "The righteous people will win". He condemned unlawful acts such as damaging the film's banners and demanding the removal of certain scenes from the film. "I strongly condemn those actions".

Law Minister C Ve Shanmugham said certain scenes amounted to inciting violence and warned of action. As the actor is debuting in Tamil soon, he certainly needs to bag the love of all the star heroes fans.
