Rohit Sharma overtakes Virat Kohli; becomes India`s leading run scorer in T20Is

Sharma hit an unbeaten 111 off 61 deliveries to power the hosts to 192-2 after being put into bat first in the second T20 at Lucknow's newly built cricket stadium.

Rohit dwarfed Dhawan, who banked on his "life" on the boundary line on 28 off Carlos Brathwaite to make an impressive in his 41-ball 43 (and achieved the milestone of scoring 1000 runs in T20Is), in a 123-run stand and set India for a big aggregate.

Khaleel also revealed that he is working on his bowling with bowling coach Bharat Arun at the nets to get better with each passing day.

The 20-year, who played for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the last edition of the Indian Premier League, was behind spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav in the list.Khaleel credits his instant success to the experience he had gathered while sharing the dressing room with big global stars during the IPL. "Everyone who came out to watch the game will go home with a smile", Rohit said in the post-match presentation.

None of the batsmen or all-rounders got to grips with the Indian bowlers and they will be desperate to perform with numerous big T20 domestic tournaments on the horizon and they will be keen to impress any watching teams to earn sizeable contracts especially for the IPL.

India lead the three-match series 1-0.

"I was reading the pitch when we were batting", he said.

Rohit hit seven sixes and eight fours to post his fourth T20 century, the most by any batsman in the format at global level.

Khaleel Ahmed had already dismissed openers Shai Hope (6) and Shimron Hetmyer (15) by that stage, as the tourists struggled with the bat for a second successive outing.

Ahmed bowled Hope in his very first over and then got the risky Hetmyer caught at long on, three overs later, with his left-arm pace. The Indian spearhead might well breach the 50-wicket landmark in the next game, and in the process, is expected to become the fastest Indian to get there, overtaking the 42 games taken by spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.

West Indies play the final T20 worldwide of the series on Sunday in Chennai.
