The trailer for the new Dumbo film is... disturbing

After an initial teaser showed what the basic premise of the film will be, a full trailer expanded on what we may see from the film's plot and characters.

My memory on the original Dumbo film isn't too fresh; I even got into a debate with a friend as we tried to remember whether or not Dumbo talked in that movie.

Burton and his team have done a lovely job of evoking a different era, striking what appears to be the flawless balance between the fantastical world of "Dumbo" as the story of a flying elephant with the more traditional and grounded story of corporate greed at odds with basic humanity.

From Disney and visionary director Tim Burton, the all-new grand live-action adventure Dumbo expands on the beloved classic story where differences are celebrated, family is cherished and dreams take flight.

The trailer for Tim Burton's live-action Dumbo film is here, and, as expected, it is. well, how do I put this?

One of the most heartbreaking moments in the animated 1941 original was when Dumbo's mother reaches out to him with her trunk through the bars of her cage. The trailer features Colin Farrell, Michael Keaton, Danny DeVito, Eva Green, Finley Hobbins and Nico Parker. It flies into theaters in March on big floppy ears and, based on the just-dropped trailer, it's going to be a Star is Born-level weepie. Michael Keaton plays the bad guy, V.A. Vandevere who brings on Dumbo for a new amusement park of sorts called Dreamland.

Dumbo soars to new heights alongside a charming and spectacular aerial artist, Colette Marchant, until Holt learns that beneath its shiny veneer, Dreamland is full of dark secrets.
