The Prince of Wales, Prince Charles has held talks with President Akufo-Addo on trade and investments between Ghana and the United Kingdom (UK).

"The appalling atrocity of the slave trade and the unimaginable suffering it caused left an indelible stain on the history of the world".

Charles also deliberately planted George's wood trees, so they have even more meaning to his young grandson.

The Atlantic slave trade or transatlantic slave trade involved the transportation by slave traders of enslaved African people, mainly to the Americas.


The British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mr Paul Arkwright had disclosed that the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall are also expected to have an audience with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa.

Prince Charles made the call when he delivered a public lecture on the theme: "The Commonwealth- Towards a Common Future", at the Accra International Conference Centre, as part of activities marking his four-day visit to Ghana. He was tapped earlier this year to succeed Queen Elizabeth II as the head of the Commonwealth.

The inability of Prince Charles to visit Jos may not be unconnected to the discovery of the body of retired Major General Idris Alkali, who was murdered in Plateau State, while on his way to Bauchi State.

After being ceremonially received by the Naval chief, the prince was taken on a tour around Lagos waters on the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) EKULU.

In April 2018, the Princess Royal, Princess Anne, visited Ghana shortly after he assumed office as President of Ghana after first visiting Ghana in 1998.
