Xiaomi launches AirPod rivals for those on a super-tight budget

Xiaomi launches AirPod rivals for those on a super-tight budget

I mean, I can think of a few reasons why not, but Xiaomi generally makes pretty reliable consumer electronics, and the company's rock-bottom prices have disrupted other markets, like fitness trackers. Not all smartphones have the tap-to-wake feature, so this feature in the AirDots Youth Edition might come in handy. It sports a dedicated touch zone that can be seen on each earbud. Users will just need to place their fingers on the earbuds to control the voice assistant, music or even calls.

But, on the other hand, unlike AirPods, the AirDots have silicone tips that can allow for better sound isolation and also a more secure fit. The TWS technology works towards splitting audio in both the earbuds with the aim to deliver a truly wireless experience. The launched product will be the Youth Edition AirDots that will be available for sale from November 11th midnight on Xiaomi Mall, Xiaomi Youpin, Tmall, Jingdong, and Suning. The price of the earphone is CNY 199 which roughly converts to around Rs. 2,100. It's also worth noting that there are no physical buttons on the device.

Xiaomi Mi AirDots Youth Edition look different from the AipPods; they support Bluetooth 5.0 and weigh 4.2 g each.

Like Bluetooth 4.0, Bluetooth 5.0 supports Bluetooth Low Energy, which is created to reduce energy usage of devices. Connectivity is updated to Bluetooth 5.0, which is backward compatible with earlier versions such as 4.2 and takes full advantage of the connectivity improvements offered by this standard. The Mi AirDots come with a companion carrying case, which also doubles as a charger with 12 hours of additional power. The earpieces need to be placed back in their box for charging, and when that is done, they automatically disconnect, shut down and start charging.
